The oldest regional nature historic museum in the Netherlands is located in Denekamp and is called ‘Natura Docet’.
Literally translated this means “The nature teaches”. In 1911 the village teacher Bernink started this museum.
Natura Docet is an atmospheric museum where it seems time stood still. Minerals, fossils, ice birds and paradise birds, duckbills and crocodiles it’s all there to see. It is just magically to be face to face with a Ichtyosaurier, a fossil lizard. Intriguing lectures about nature but it is also a lot of fun to take a picture when lying underneath a mammut, touching fossil fish, stones that give light, there is too much to name. In the garden of the museum you can overlook the landscapes from Van Dinkeldal to Bergvennen. Natura Docet is a museum for young and old, there is something to see or enjoy for everyone.
